This is an 18.5" thick solid fir column, likely made in the mid to late 1800s, that used to be a ship's mast that has been fitted onto a steel base. A solid fir donut wraps around the column towards the bottom. This would be perfect for a beer garden or your backyard to serve as a cool piece but also somewhere to set your drinks!
