Antique Spinning Wheel

$ 195.00

Handmade antique spinning [walking] wheel, made by Peter Perry Crosby around 1865 in Markham, Ontario. Looks like a few different types of hardwoods, it has simple yet elegant detailing on the table and support spindle. Unfortunately missing its legs (or possibly intended to sit directly on the floor), but looks like it has all the parts to make it a functioning piece.

Fun fact; according to our supplier, Peter Perry Crosby and his wife Emily Barnes were the grandparents of Ruth Peale, wife of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, author of the famous book "The Power of Positive Thinking." Even more reason to want to take home a neat little slice of history. Maybe even pick up knitting!
