WWI Era Army Corps of Engineers Field Sketching Kit w/ Original Case

$ 195.00

This little box of history includes a mighty handsome mahogany(?) and brass tripod, fir and brass sketching boards, cover, and original steel case! The tripod is marked "U.S. Dept of Eng. - Folmer & Schwing - Eastman Kodak Co - Rochester N.Y. 1914" and collapses into segments to fit in the case. The sketch board is marked with "U.S. Sketching Board Model 1913 - Keuffel & Essel Co., N.Y.", plus some scale measurements, a compass, and orientation instructions. They've been pretty well cared for - the tripod expands and breaks down smoothly and is free of any notable cosmetic flaws, the sketchboard has a couple dents and minor signs of wear. The cse has an organizer that would've held a compass and drawing tools, but those implements have gone AWOL. This is an awesome piece for any photography enthusiast, engineering buff, steampunker, militaria lover, time traveller, etc. It would make an enviable setup for a plein air artiste!
