This is a pair of cedar gate panels which have been roasted/charred in a process called "shou sugi ban", a traditional Japanese process. It protects the wood from pests and rot and allows the wood to last longer in the weather, as well as adding a layer of fire protection. Both panels have two heavy duty strap hinges and two latch systems, one thumb latch and the other is a gravity latch. The static panel has a ground bolt as well for extra stability.
