Vintage Ravinia Record Cabinet
$ 95.00
A record player cabinet manufactured by the Webster-Chicago Corporation (or Webcor) sometime in the early 1960s featuring beautiful richly stained mahogany construction with golden speaker screens on the front and the sides. The top swings up to reveal that old-fashioned phonograph (or FONOGRAF, as one of the info plates calls it). When we tested it in-house, the speakers turned on and all of the volume/treble/bass knobs worked properly, although we couldn't get the record player to spin and play- though it definitely seems the needle arm is in good shape judging by the noises it made. There's a good amount of maker's marks on this, including the model plate which identifies it as a Webcor model MC1660-1. The only date information I was able to find pointed to the early 1960s. If you can get the turntable working, you'll have something special there- the "Ravinia sound" is something that audiophiles apparently seek out.
