You may be familiar with ye olde Singer sewing machines that stood as landmarks in almost every household through the early and middle 20th century, but I'd bet my bloomers you've never come across one of these fantastic Singer 72W12 hemstitch embroidery machines before! These units are exceptionally rare, with little to no record of sale I could find during my web scour (though there is one for sale on eBay for $599 as of 4/20/26 and one of its cousin, the 72W19 available for $999 - sheesh!) The 72W12 was created for commercial applications, making it even more of a workhorse than home machines from Singer. The thing that makes them special is the multi-needle action that creates a decorative "overedge hemstitch" - an intricate line of pierced holes bound by stitching on both sides. This was a popular (and labor intensive!) feature on clothing and linens in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras when the machine was invented. You can see the machine in action here!

This unit obviously needs some restoration, but that seems to be the case for all units on the market today. As far as I can see, there's no true damage - just long years of idleness. It comes with some assorted parts that may be additional accessories, necessary components, or completely unrelated to the machine. I was able to track down an operation manual here that may aid in your restoration journey! You'll probably want to start with a motor, which are easily sourced on eBay.
