Antique American Windsor Chair

$ 295.00

A truly beautiful specimen of an American Windsor chair, likely dating to some part of the 19th century. This is a sack back style chair with an ornate wheel medallion topped splat, which is uncommon in American Windsors! The legs are as wonderfully turned as you could hope to see in a Windsor chair, and the bow-shaped continuous arm section is another exciting feature. The seat appears to be fir, the arms and legs are maple - both typical choices for good period examples of these chairs. There's lovely patina all over, with fine crazing common to older finishes. The chair has had repairs to the seat-leg joints, but is in good condition otherwise - and plenty strong enough for sitting!
