Vintage P&O Orient Lines Hand Painted Sign
$ 195.00
An awesome hand painted sign for P&O Orient Lines circa early 1960s. P&O Orient was a merger of two of Britain's largest "passenger shipping" companies that ran from the UK, through the Suez Canal, all the way to Australia/NZ and finally extended to the West Coast in the 1950s. They were known for being the finest ships traveling the Pacific! The colors are vivid and glossy, and both the masonite board and wood frame are in great shape. The company dropped "Orient" from its name in 1966 and the sign has a gift message on the back dated 1967, so I'm guessing someone at the company made a gift of the sign when new ones bearing the updated name were brought in. Made by Link Sign Co., this beauty would be a fabulous centerpiece in the collection of any maritime or travel enthusiast!
