Vintage John Stancin Print

$ 125.00

A large-scale textured lithograph print of a John Stancin painting. The scene is surreal and almost otherworldly, with a lone figure walking towards the horizon amongst skeletal architectural remains. The artist signed the work with a little human figure forming the J of his first initial, is that cute or what?? Born in 1916, Stancin trained with Lecoque and Renoir, as well as attending the Chicago Art Institute before moving to Los Angeles for the bulk of his career. He was described as a neo-romanticist landscape painter, most active from the late 1930s through his death in 1988. This print likely dates sometime from the 1940s-50s - based on similar sale records, it was probably a Turner Home Accessories product. The frame is original and has some cosmetic issues, price reflects.
