Leaving South Park was a mixed bag for Second Use staff. Everyone was excited about the new space and the opportunity it would bring, but it was very sad to leave the community that had become home 15 years earlier. However, we took solace in the fact that we would only be three miles north, and we hope our South Park friends will come with us to the new space.
In the words of Second Use co-owner Patrick Burningham, “While everything is butterflies and rainbows at the new space, I still have to make sure the South Park store is empty by the end of the month.” Patrick was tasked with the unenviable job of getting rid of all the remaining items at the old store. Then he had to clean it. For anyone who has moved, you know how hard the last stretch of the move is. Of course Patrick had the help of many others- namely the fierce Tim Anderson- to make sure the job got done.
And it did get done, as you can see below. The pictures are from the inside of the South Park store, the yard and the customer bathroom hallway. Such a normally vibrant, cluttered space, it is a strange sensation to see it bare. It’s meloncholy, but it’s the last step of our big move, and we’re very excited to get settled into our new home.
