Pair of Nesting Antique Firkins
$ 195.00
Mesmerizing pair of well-preserved, nesting antique 'Firkins'-which derives from "vierdikikijn" the Dutch word for 'fourth' in this case representing 1/4 of a barrel or 8 gallons. These obviously hold less than that quantity but the name persists. Both are in great shape and could certainly be used to hold a variety of dry goods. Their historical use included storing sugar, flour, spices and other dry goods, they were used widely during pioneer times, 'Hey Hon! If you want biscuits bring me the firkin flour firkin already!' Sold as a pair.
