Perfectly aged, nearly clear (one small knot noted) piece of rough sawn 8x8 fir that is just about the perfect size for a mantel cap. This one does have a 3/4" deep cut on one face and a check running the length on a perpendicular face, but if you're making a mantel cap, put both toward the back and no one will know but you.
