Second Use Building Materials, Seattle’s largest architectural salvage yard, is seeking a full time staff member to work in our receiving department.

Second Use is a community focused business dedicated to diverting reusable building materials from the landfill and selling them to the public at an affordable cost through our retail store.
Our staff members share a passion for keeping good stuff from going to waste, an interest in old stuff, a strong work ethic, and general sense of humor. As our busy summer season approaches, we are looking to hire and train a full time Receiving team member.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Salvage Buyer/Receiver
Typical Receiving work functions:
Negotiate purchase/donation/acquisition of quality reusable building materials from the public
Unload incoming material and prepare for sale in retail store
Price incoming materials
Photograph materials for website

Typical work weeks are (4) 10 hour days including one weekend day
An ideal candidate will have these qualifications:
Must be a self-motivated and reliable worker
Enthusiasm for a safe work environment
Must be a hard worker willing to put in a full 10 hour day at 100%
This position requires negotiation skills and knowledge of a wide range of materials. Training provided, but some experience is preferred.
Must be able to lift 75 lbs all day long
Experience moving heavy materials
Ability to work comfortably with computer systems
Ability to accurately measure dimensions and calculate quantities
Experience working in the building trades
Knowledge of building materials
