With growing attention on salvage and creative reuse, Second Use wants to engage the local design and building community and spotlight what the Seattle area’s creative building professionals are doing in this important area of sustainable building. In conjunction with the Building Materials Reuse Association biennial national conference, Decon ’13, we are hosting a salvage project showcase at our new SoDo warehouse store.
We are looking for submissions for this showcase in the form of an exhibit display board that highlights one or more projects where you or your firm have used salvage or reuse in an impactful way. Whether it’s material reuse, building reuse, or waste diversion through salvage, we want to see photos and information on your experience. In addition to continuing the conversation about salvage and reuse with our local community, this showcase will give your projects a national audience, while Second Use hosts the opening reception for Decon ’13 on April 28. The exhibit will stay on display at our store throughout the conference week for visitors, as well as our customers, to view. See below for display board guidelines.
- Display boards should be no larger than 36″ x 48″ and spray mounted or printed on rigid panel (foam board, masonite, plywood, etc.)
- They may contain text, photos and graphics
- They should briefly describe your project(s), the goals, the amount of materials recovered, reused or recycled
- They will highlight any unique, innovative and impactful features of the project(s)
Digital submissions (.pdf or .jpg) should be received no later than March 15. Second Use will review the submissions and notify the selected display owners no later than April 1, to allow time for final production. For more information or to submit a project, contact Dirk Wassink at [email protected] or 206-763-6929 x108.
We look forward to seeing your project! Please also forward this notice to anyone else you think might have interest.
