Every few years, Second Use gets the opportunity to take on one of the most difficult but also most rewarding salvage jobs: A Bowling Alley!

Skyway Park Bowl opened in 1961, providing good clean fun to the neighborhood until a sprinkler malfunction caused damage that ceased bowling operations in 2024. The adjacent event space still kept the venue active in it’s last days with live music, dancing, karaoke, in a nightclub atmosphere.
While it is bittersweet to lose a “third space”, especially in unincorporated Skyway that lacks the funding and resources of city governments like Seattle and Tukwila, there is a happy ending to this story. The 3.82 acre site, which is easily accessible by transit and car, will be purchased by King County Parks and become Skyway’s first, and long awaited, Community Center. This is a huge win for Skyway and the West Hill Neighborhoods. Second Use is honored to have been given the opportunity to keep 65 years of memories out of the landfill, and in our communities.
