Live Edge Teredo Hemlock

$ 220.00

Beautiful old growth hemlock reclaimed from boom logs used in the Northwest timber industry of yesteryear, and a former habitat for the notorious teredo clam (sometimes known as "shipworms"), which burrow into the logs at a young age, spending their entire lives - often in complete isolation - traversing the log, safe from predators, and stowing away for a trip around the world. Ultimately, the lives of these creatures lend a distinctly nautical, northwestern feel to the lumber, forming a wonderful statement piece that can accentuate a variety of spaces. This slab has been fine planed on both faces, while keeping the natural wane of the log on either side (please note width varies due to wane - listed width reflects planed face).
